Collecting Winter Clothing for Afghan refugees Nov 28 – Dec 19
It’s cold outside and Afghan refugees in the Harrisburg, PA area are in dire need of winter clothing. Will you donate or help collect these items? Items needed are new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, scarves and socks of all sizes. We ask that donated items please be clean with no tears, holes, missing buttons, or broken zippers. The deadline to donate or collect these items is December 19 by noon.

Otterbein United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, MD is searching for a Church Office Administrator. A typical day includes multiple tasks such as welcoming callers/guests, coordinating maintenance, updating the church website, creating vibrant Facebook postings, and preparing monthly reports.
The ideal candidate will have excellent telephone and writing skills, MS Office proficiency, ability to juggle multiple tasks independently, experience creating and publishing internet content, a love for encouraging volunteers and the desire to do all the above in the Lord’s service.

Bester Community of Hope is seeking volunteers and congregational sponsors for the following:
- Volunteers for the “Walking School Bus” (currently in progress) – once/week on Wednesday from 8-9 am, from 3 locations to Bester Elementary. Volunteers can help every Wednesday or do a rotation.
- Houses of worship/groups to sponsor “Better Together Activity Boxes,” placing activities for families in the boxes (which are like Blessing Boxes, but with activities). Sponsors are needed for the 4th and 5th
- Houses of worship/groups to do acts of service that improve the well-being of the Bester/south Hagerstown community. Can include things like fixing Little Free Libraries, setting up a basketball court, neighborhood clean-up projects, planting trees, etc. Any community could benefit from these acts of service!
As an initiative of San Mar Family and Community Services, Bester Community of Hope embodies the mission of “Cultivating Hope and Well-Being in Children, Families and Communities” within the South End of Hagerstown, MD.
