Hagerstown Area Religious Council
The Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) is a coalition of churches and houses of faith in the Hagerstown area of Washington County.
After summer hiatus, HARC members and friends will meet on September 10 and learn about the Refugee Welcome Network. RWN seeks to connect refugees newly arrived in the U.S. and Washington County to community resources, including housing, household goods, English lessons, jobs, food and clothing, and more, and support them with friendship and community as they settle in their new home. The RWN operates under the auspices of HARC and is almost all volunteer-led.
Join us for lunch, fellowship, and this unique program. First Christian Church will host our meeting and provide the lunch with a free-will offering basket. Ample parking is available and the building is accessible.
RSVP requested by Friday, September 6 at noon so we can get a count for lunch.
————————————————————————–
HARC meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month for lunch, except July and August, with an occasional evening or weekend meeting. The meeting location typically rotates among different houses of faith or affiliate organizations, giving different congregations and organizations an opportunity to host. Some meetings will be recorded for later viewing, as we are able and the subject allows.
The HARC Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday, November 24, was a beautiful event full of unity amid appreciation of our differences. The multi-colored leaves on the bulletin cover illustrated this harmony: "[they] are all alike, yet all different. And they fit perfectly together." You can view the recording on Facebook or it will soon be posted on Benevola UMC's YouTube page. Many thanks to the many participants who made this service amazing, and to Benevola United Methodist Church for hosting this year.
