Hagerstown Area Religious Council
The Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) is a coalition of churches and houses of faith in the Hagerstown area of Washington County.
HARC’s Board of Directors has been busy over the summer planning and setting goals for the coming year and beyond. We’re excited about the work we’re doing together and have a LOT we would like to accomplish. For September’s meeting, we are asking ALL members to attend, if able, with both faith leader and lay representation, to give YOUR input into this work and help us prioritize what’s most important, to discern the areas where God is speaking to us most urgently. Other community members are also encouraged to engage in this process with us.
Our meeting will be hosted by Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Join us for a meal and fellowship at 12:30, with an introduction from our host with sharing about their faith tradition. Program begins at 1:00 and concludes no later than 2:30. RSVP requested (use link below).
Prior to the meeting, we would appreciate if those attending would review our current “We Believe” statements with Goals and also answer a short survey that will help us better understand the needs and interests of you and your congregation.
Parking & Entrance:
The entrance for our meeting is on the BACK of the church. To park closest to the entrance, take Howard St. to the alley next to the church (between Summit and Guilford), and park in the large lot on your left. Enter through the back door to the church. Entrance is accessible.

HARC meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 12:30 pm, except July and August, with an occasional evening meeting. When meeting in-person, the location typically rotates among different houses of faith, giving different congregations and organizations an opportunity to host. If in-person meetings are decided to be unsafe for our members, they will be held on Zoom.
The HARC Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday, November 24, was a beautiful event full of unity amid appreciation of our differences. The multi-colored leaves on the bulletin cover illustrated this harmony: "[they] are all alike, yet all different. And they fit perfectly together." You can view the recording on Facebook or it will soon be posted on Benevola UMC's YouTube page. Many thanks to the many participants who made this service amazing, and to Benevola United Methodist Church for hosting this year.
