Our June meeting will focus on migration, past and present. We welcome Basheer Azizi, President of the Islamic Center of Hagerstown, to talk about the history and present reality of migration among people of Islamic faith and Rabbi Mark Perman of Congregation B’Nai Abraham to share the history and present reality of migration among Jewish people. With many immigrants seeking refuge in our country and right here in Washington County, we’ll look at this topic through a faith lens and learn about current challenges leading to immigration, and found within our immigration system.

Join us for lunch and fellowship, followed by the program.  Lunch will be provided by our host, Reach of Washington County, with a free-will offering basket.  RSVP requested by Friday, June 9 at noon so we can get a count for lunch.

Directions to Reach can be found here.  Attendees can park in any parking spot on Reach’s level.  Additional parking can be found on the other two sides of the building at Christ’s Reformed Church or the Aspiring to Serve side, both accessed from 130/140 W. Franklin St. Any spots at Christ’s Reformed are open (walk to the back of the building to Reach from the alley), or any non-PSI parking spots in the lot just past the church at the Aspiring to Serve building attached (walk up a flight of stairs to Reach).

HARC meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month for lunch, except July and August, with an occasional evening meeting.  When meeting in-person, the location typically rotates among different houses of faith, giving different congregations and organizations an opportunity to host.  Some meetings will be recorded for later viewing, as we are able and the subject allows.
