Caring Connections: Washington County’s Single Point of Entry, Caring Connections allows families with children birth to five to make one phone call and be referred to programs and services that they are eligible to enroll. It is their goal that every Washington County child will enter school ready to learn. Here are just a few programs and services they can connect you with: Prenatal Services, Head Start or Early Head Start, Pre K, GED, Parenting Support, Home Visiting Services. Call 240-850-3212 to be connected with the right programs for your family. This project is a collaborative effort of Washington County Health Department, Washington County Public Schools, Head Start of Washington County, Washington County Family Center and The Judy Center of Washington County. APPLES for Children serves as the coordinating agency for the project.
Community Resources from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints: A variety of resources for individuals and families. Valuable life skills and amazing classes are offered. The mental health, self reliance and family search are particularly valuable resources .
Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Founded in Kimberly, Idaho in 2012, Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing hand-made bunk beds to children who don’t have beds of their own. Not only do they deliver these beds to children in need, but they partner with organizations, churches, businesses and individuals to build them at events called Build Days! Community Book Warehouse: The Community Book Warehouse, located at 24 N Walnut Street, 2nd Floor, has books for children ages birth – 8. Individuals may take up to five (5) books each month. Children are welcome to come with their parent/caregiver to select books. Agencies/organizations working with vulnerable children and families may take as many books as needed to serve those families.
VBS and Family Summer Activity Calendars: We are happy to collect information about available activities for the summer of 2024, and will begin posting the calendars starting in mid-May. Once posted, please check back for updated versions as we often receive late additions (most recent date updated will be noted).
