Hagerstown Area Religious Council
The Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) is a coalition of churches and houses of faith in the Hagerstown area of Washington County.
This program is co-sponsored by Brook Lane and the Washington County Commission on Aging.
This FREE community program will share practical self-care techniques to help individuals enhance their overall well-being including combatting feelings of loneliness. It is critical to remember self-care, especially if you are dedicating much of your time to caring for someone else. Many people tend to isolate themselves, more so when stressed or feeling overwhelmed. Developing a social network and making time to connect with others is a path toward renewal. Join Michael Gipson, LMSW, as he shares valuable information on how to be more aware of your own needs and actions you can take to improve your well-being, including decreasing loneliness.
Mike Gipson has many and varied life experiences that made him decide to switch careers mid-life. Mike was a successful general manager of food service concepts when he went back to school to study Psychology. Mike received his BA, Summa Cum Laude, in Psychology from Purdue Global University and received his Masters of Social Work from Walden University. Mike has been in the mental health field for over six years, coming to Brook Lane in 2022. He splits his working time between community outreach at Horizon Goodwill’s Health Hub in downtown Hagerstown and providing tele-health therapy services for Brook Lane. Mike is now an Informal Care Giver for his wife, who suffers from liver failure. He wants, and is excited and honored, to share his personal knowledge on the stress of care giving and the power to combat compassion fatigue and loneliness in the golden years of life with you.
