Terry Brown of Hagerstown won the photo contest held in conjunction with the Holiday Tour of Historic Houses of Worship which took place Dec 26, 2017 at 13 houses of worship as well as the Miller House in downtown Hagerstown.  His photo, “Reaching Toward Heaven” is an outside view of Trinity Lutheran Church’s bell tower against a blue sky.

Honorable mentions included Scott Cantner of Hagerstown for a photo of Trinity Lutheran called “Welcome to the Tour”.   A total of 14 photographers submitted 38 works for consideration in the competition.

Mark Schoberg of Waynesboro, Pa., the 2016 winner, received two awards for his pictures – one taken at St. Mark’s Lutheran church called “Balcony of Hope” and one from Trinity Lutheran titled  “Starlight”.

The contest, in partnership with and support from the Washington County Arts Council, was a way to promote the 2018 tour and featured photos taken during the 2017 event. The winning picture will be used to create posters and promotional materials for this year’s tour.

This year’s Historic Houses of Worship Tour will once again take place on December 26 from 3-7 pm.  Save the date!  Learn more
