You Have Changed My Life

September 21, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

The Maryland Early Childhood Conference proudly presents a free community program:

William Martinez – You Have Changed My Life

About the ProgramThrough American Sign Language paired with singing, YOU HAVE CHANGED MY LIFE shares the true story of a boy who grew up in a deaf household with little exposure to TV, radio, or movies. Because of his incredible 8th-grade music teacher, Mrs. Norma Freeman, William came out of his silent world and discovered his voice through music. Watch how ASL (American Sign Language) and song lyrics meld together into a beautifully unique art form. This presentation is a heartwarming celebration of the incredible impact teachers have on each child’s life… regardless of their struggles.

This FREE program is open to adults and children ages 10 and up.  A donation of a non-perishable food product to benefit Micah’s Backpack is requested (monetary donations also welcome, made out to HARC with “Micah’s Backpack” noted).  While this is a free event, a ticket is required for admission.  Tickets may be obtained online at  or by calling 301-733-0000.

The Gourmet Goat/ GG’s Restaurant and Martini Bar invites attendees to dine with them prior to the program. Diners who show their program ticket will receive a 10% discount off their entire check. (Please be prepared to show your ticket to receive the discount.)

This program is sponsored by the Maryland Early Childhood Conference, Together with Families, and the Judy Center of Washington County.

Micah’s Backpack is a partnership between Washington County Public Schools, the Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC), MD Food Bank, and more than 50 sponsoring churches and community organizations providing bags of food to feed hungry students over the weekend.  Each Friday afternoon identified elementary school children and homeless middle and high school children receive a bag of healthy food and snacks.  The filled bag may include the following individual serving-size items: cereal, oatmeal, juice, tuna, peanut butter, crackers, macaroni and cheese, soup, applesauce, fruit cups, spaghetti, ravioli, beef stew, canned vegetables, and other nutritious food.  For more information about this program, contact Kathy Powderly, Executive Director, Hagerstown Area Religious Council at
