Understanding the LGBTQIA+ Community:Compassionate Language and Considerations
June 14, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Unity of Hagerstown presents Understanding the LGBTQIA+ Community:
Compassionate Language and Considerations, a virtual workshop, via Zoom, June 14 1 p.m.
Even though we may have a welcoming spirit, that does not always mean we understand how to approach diverse groups that may use terminology we’re unfamiliar with. In this workshop, Safrianna DeGroat will help you understand some of the basic, as well as newer terms, used by the LGBTQIA+ community and will provide ample time for questions in a safe affirming space regardless of your level of knowledge.
Safrianna is a Licensed Counselor in the state of Maryland, mindfulness instructor, and self-help blogger. She enjoys providing therapeutic services for all, and strives to serve marginalized and LGBTQIA+ populations above all. As someone who recently began identifying as LGBTQIA+ and once attempted to present as heterosexual and cisgender, she wants to bring a well-rounded perspective to those wanting to learn and ask questions about the issues facing the queer community today. This workshop is free and open to the public. For more information and for Zoom meeting details, please contact Safrianna via email Safrianna.DeGroat@gmail.com
