Event Date: July 23, 2018 at 7:00 pm Event Location: Unitarian Universalist Church of Hagerstown, 13245 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown

An Evening of Traditional Hasidic Stories
Stories In the Round is thrilled to welcome Maggid Melvin Metelits. Born and raised in west Philadelphia (PA), Melvin first became active in progressive political causes and campaigns as a high school student in the late 1940’s and has been engaged in local and regional civil rights, labor rights and peace activities ever since. A beloved public school elementary and history teacher for much of his life – in Philadelphia and the U.S. Virgin Islands – he is especially proud of his work on the Executive Board of the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers. Fluent in Spanish, he completed extensive research documenting African influences in Mexican culture and history. In the 1990’s he completed studies and certification with Maggid Yitzak Buxbaum, and now focuses on service as an ordained teller and teacher of sacred tales. Despite having only one vocal cord, Melvin mesmerizes and inspires diverse domestic and international audiences with the power and wisdom of his stories. He is a contributing author to Mitzvah Stories: Seeds for Inspiration
