Anokwale Anansesemfo regularly shares stories from her research on the lives of women in bondage in early colonial Maryland and the historical evidence for the experiences of working women of various backgrounds in European settlements of North America.  Ms. Anansesemfo will perform in period dress to tell the lives of several Maryland women.  Anokwale is president of the Griots’ Circle of Maryland, adjunct professor at Stevenson University, respected historian of the African Diaspora and an interpretive national park ranger. Her credits include numerous conferences for the National Association of Black Storytellers, National Association of Interpreters, and the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Conference.

Stories In The Round is a 10 session series at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Hagerstown, 13245 Cearfoss Pike (Salem Ave. extended) usually on the 4th Monday of the month, March thru December. Children 12 years & older welcome when accompanied by a parent or group leader.

The HARC Hike for Hunger & Hope will be an in-person event (with a virtual option)! The main hike date is set for Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Shepherd's Spring Outdoor Retreat Center with safe social distancing and appropriate COVID protocols. Proceeds will benefit HARC programs, including Micah's Backpack, which continues to provide nutritious food to more than 1,000 food-insecure children in Washington County.
