Hagerstown Area Religious Council
The Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) is a coalition of churches and houses of faith in the Hagerstown area of Washington County.
Dementia in its many forms effects more than 3000 people in Washington County, along with their caregivers. Learning more about prevention, diagnosis, and treatment can help, as well as having access to support. At our October 8th meeting, we will hear from representatives of Dementia Friendly Washington County (DFWC) about their efforts to make Washington County a dementia friendly place to thrive. DFWC offers educational trainings, access to resources, a Memory Café, and more. DFWC is a dedicated group of local individuals and organizations raising awareness, decreasing stigma, and increasing public understanding. We will hear from a couple about their Alzheimer’s journey as well. DFWC operates under Dementia Friendly America and the Alzheimer’s Association of Maryland.
Join us for lunch, fellowship, and this unique program. Otterbein United Methodist Church will host our meeting and provide the lunch with a free-will offering basket. Ample parking is available and the building is accessible.
RSVP requested by Friday, October 4 at noon so we can get a count for lunch.
————————————————————————–
HARC meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month for lunch, except July and August, with an occasional evening or weekend meeting. The meeting location typically rotates among different houses of faith or affiliate organizations, giving different congregations and organizations an opportunity to host. Some meetings will be recorded for later viewing, as we are able and the subject allows.
Please join us for this unique service with participation and traditions across different faiths. This service will feature a community choir. If you’d like to participate, please arrive by 2:30 pm. Free and open to the public.
