Brunch and Learn for Religious Leaders – Topic: Attaining Intercultural Competency in Caregiving

Meritus Medical Center’s Spiritual Care Department hosts monthly educational sessions for faith leaders, health care providers and members of the wider community.
The meetings will be held on the third Thursday of the month, from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Topics and speakers will vary. Suggestions are welcome. There is no cost for the meeting or refreshments; however, an RSVP is required. All meetings are held in the Parish Nursing Conference Room on 1799 Howell Road in Hagerstown, MD.

Objectives:

  • To identify the risks and benefits of intercultural competency in caregiving,
  • To recognize influential cultural factors of patients, clients, and their family members with differing cultural and faith values,
  • To obtain time-tested intercultural competency tools for enhancing encounters with those who are different.

HARC Hike

The HARC Hike for Hunger & Hope will now be a VIRTUAL event! Participants can hike anytime between Saturday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, anytime of the day that's convenient, anywhere that safe social distancing can be maintained. Proceeds will benefit HARC programs, including Micah's Backpack, which continues to provide nutritious food to food-insecure children in Washington County, even during this global pandemic.
