The Hagerstown Area Religious Council (HARC) is a coalition of churches and houses of faith in the Hagerstown area of Washington County.
The community is invited to join Rev. Penelope Gladwell, Interim Minister of Trinity Reformed UCC, for a reading and book signing on Sunday December 15th. As part of the celebration of Boonsboro Christmas Churches visitors to the church will have an opportunity to listen as the author share several holiday-related passages from Christina’s Gift.
Set in Pittsburgh in the 1980s, this novel is a touching account of how a minister’s death brought loved ones closer to God’s love and grace. Friends of the main character, Christina Andrews, try to make sense of how her life ended by recounting to each other memorable times they spent with her. Gladwell’s work presents an inspiring depiction of the love and wisdom that is only be realized in life-changing moments.
Meet the author in the Social Room, attend the reading at 2:30, and tour the church’s historic sanctuary. Rev. Gladwell’s books will be available for purchase and signing. Refreshments will be served.
The HARC Interfaith Thanksgiving Service held on Sunday, November 24, was a beautiful event full of unity amid appreciation of our differences. The multi-colored leaves on the bulletin cover illustrated this harmony: "[they] are all alike, yet all different. And they fit perfectly together." You can view the recording on Facebook or it will soon be posted on Benevola UMC's YouTube page. Many thanks to the many participants who made this service amazing, and to Benevola United Methodist Church for hosting this year.
