Annual U.S.S. Cole Commemoration

Event Date: October 12, 2018 at 11:30 am Event Location: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro

The annual USS Cole commemoration is Friday, October 12, at 11:30 AM in St. Mark’s Cemetery, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro, MD.  The public is welcome to attend.  Seaman Craig Wibberly, who is buried at St. Mark’s, was one of the first casualties in the most recent conflicts in the Middle East.  In October 2000, the USS Cole, anchored in Yemen, was rammed by a small boat full of explosives.  Two young men from Washington County were killed in the blast.  This is the 18th commemoration of this solemn and tragic event.  St. Mark’s honors the memory of Seaman Craig Wibberley and all who have given their lives in the service of this country we love so much.
