Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Burning of the Palms

Event Date: February 13, 2018 at 5:00 pm Event Location: St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro

St. Mark’s hosts a Pancake Supper for Shrove Tuesday on February 13 from 5 – 7:30 PM in the Parish Hall. Pancakes are a tradition as a dish to use up sugar and fat before the fast days of Lent. At St. Mark’s, we celebrate “Fat Tuesday” or “Mardi Gras” with a “King’s Cake,” complete with prizes for those who “find” the small items baked inside!

At 5:30 PM the public is invited to attend the “Burning of the Palms,” where the Palms from last year’s Palm Sunday are burned to make ashes for Ash Wednesday. The liturgy includes prayers and a time to include the burning of any prayer intentions or the release of any spiritual weights. The suggested donations for the dinner are $6 for adults, $4 for seniors over 60, $2 for children 4-11 and children under three eat free. Cap for families is $20.

Ash Wednesday Services on February 14 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church are at 11 AM in the Historic Church and 7:30 PM in the Fellowship Center. Ashes will be offered at both services. Stations of the Cross will be offered during the 7:30 PM service in the Fellowship Center.

Visit St. Mark’s on Facebook and on the web at www.stmarkslappans.org for information and location of the Church. There is plenty of parking and the Fellowship Center is fully accessible.
