Schola Choir Concert

Trinity Lutheran Church and Barbara Ingram School for the Arts will host the Schola Choir from Westminster Choir College under the direction of Dr. James Jordan Monday evening, March 18 at 7 p.m..

Westminster Schola Cantorum, composed of students from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, will present a concert titled “Abide with Me” . The concert is presented by Barbara Ingram School for the Arts and Trinity Lutheran Church. The program will include movements from Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, John Tavener’s Funeral Ikos; and Johannes Brahms’ Geistliches Lied, as well as Morten Lauridsen’s setting of Dana Giolia’s Prayer and “The Stars Shine,” from Kile Smith’s The Consolation of Apollo. The ensemble will also perform John Hudson’s arrangement of Abide With Me, the 1847 Anglican hymn tune, with text by Henry Francis Lyte. The ensemble is under the direction of award-winning conductor Dr. James Jordan, recognized and praised throughout the musical world as one of America’s pre-eminent conductors. At Westminster Choir College he is professor and senior conductor. He is also director of the Westminster Conducting Institute and co-director of the Choral Institute at Oxford.
