A wonderful opportunity to see the interiors of historic downtown Hagerstown houses of worship.  Learn about the architecture and ecumenical heritage from docents and guides.  Music, refreshments and local art will be featured at some locations.

This is a self-guided walking/driving tour and can be started and ended at the house of worship of your choice.  Parking is available at individual houses of worship in their lots and/or along the nearby streets as permitted.

The 4th annual Holiday Tour photo contest will take place with a $200 prize for best original photograph.  Anyone may submit a photo taken during the 2018 tour for a chance to win.  Tour organizers are seeking pictures highlighting the beauty and architecture of the houses of worship. The winning original photograph will be commissioned by the tour organizers and will be used to create posters and promotional materials for the 2018 Tour.  Deadline for submissions is January 11, 2019.  For more information and to submit your entry visit the Washington County Arts Council website.

When you have completed the tour, Trinity Lutheran Church invites you to join them at 7:30 p.m. to continue their Jazz adventure with a special Christmas celebration. This will be in the form of a Traditional Evening Prayer service which makes use of chant, scripture, prayers, silence, and hymns to bring the presence of Christ into our midst as day gives way to evening. The only difference is that this setting of the vesper service uses the warm sound of American Jazz music. A highlight of the service is a brief teaching moment which expands on the theme of the day, blending the sacred and the secular. Invite some friends to join you for this blended service to wind down your day after the Historic Houses of Worship Tour. Free and open to the public.

2018 Brochure and promotional flyer

Note:  The brochure is sized for 15 x 12 paper to be folded as a pocket brochure. However, it can be printed on 11 x 17 paper with good results.  Participating houses of worship will have a limited number of pre-printed, pre-folded glossy brochures to distribute.
