Getting Ahead in a Just Getting By World

Event Date: June 6, 2018 at 6:00 pm Event Location: Otterbein United Methodist Church, 130 W. Franklin Street, Hagerstown

Financial Education Partnership-Washington County is pleased to announce the launch of a new program: “Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World”.  Thanks to grant funding by BB&T Bank, FEP-WC has teamed up with Otterbein United Methodist Church to offer this program which is designed to help those individuals who are genuinely wanting to get out of poverty and make changes in their lives.

This is not a taught class, but a facilitated conversation over a 15- week process in which participants will be guided through a series of self-assessments to learn how to build resources and networks. We will discuss topics such as: Theory of Change, Rich / Poor Gap & How it Works, Hidden Rules of Economic Class, Building Resources, Your Plan for Getting from Poverty to Prosperity, Where to Go to Build Personal and Community Resources, and Closing & Transition to Mentoring. This program is designed to put the tools and resources in the hands of the people who need it most; however, anyone who is interested can attend!

Child care will be offered if needed and light refreshments will be served each week. Getting Ahead will be offered in two sessions; the summer session will be held Wednesday, June 6th-September 26th from 6-8 pm and the fall session from Wednesday, October 3rd -January 30th from 6-8 pm. Space is limited, so register early!
