Holy Hotcakes Pancake Breakfast

Event Date: August 5, 2017 at 7:00 am Event Location: St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 18313 Lappans Road, Boonsboro

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Lappans, hosts a Pancake Breakfast, Saturday, August 5 from 7 – 11 AM in their Parish Hall.  The fully cooked breakfast includes scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage links, sausage gravy, biscuits, assorted juices, and coffee.  The cost is by suggested donation:  $5 for adults, $3 for children, and kids under the age of three eat free.  A “cap” of $20 per family is offered.  Members from the Church will be on hand to give tours of the historic Church and Church yard including the recent research on the history of 19th century African Americans at St. Mark’s and the role of the Church in the Civil War. The St. Mark’s website, stmarkslappans.org, provides a video about this research and other helpful resources.  Visitors may view two historical markers, one showing the Church when it was used for a hospital during the civil war and another marking the grave plots of enslaved persons and those who won their freedom and joined the church.  If you are a “geocache” fan you may find a special location on our Church grounds!  Information about the history, worship, programs, outreach, and the Growing Tree @ St. Mark’s, a fully accredited half-day pre-school program, will be available for visitors.

Upcoming events at St. Mark’s include the “Blessing of the Backpacks” on Sunday, August 20 at 9 AM, a Pet Blessing on Sunday, October 3 at 5 PM, and a Holiday Festival, November 11, including items for Christmas, home-made soups, a bake table, and White Elephant Sale.
